Caterers friend was founded in Bad Iburg in 2009 by Dieter Lampe, restaurant manager and chef de cuisine in Osnabrück. Together with his friend and business partner Christian Barthold he designed the first mobile plate warmer. On their own they developed their innovation until it was ready for the market and in 2010 they were awarded the Gastro Vision Innovation Prize. Today, this highly functional product is the flag-ship of Caterers friend.
How passionate Dieter Lampe is about cooking in his restaurant can be seen by the fact that he was awarded the "Golden Cooking Spoon" by the NDR (North German Radio). This prize is awarded by the listeners and he received it in 2010 as most popular chef de cuisine in the restaurant of the Local Government Offices in Osnabrück. Dieter Lampe, also known as "Meister Lampe", [translators note: this is a play on words as "Meister Lampe" is the nickname given to the hare in fables, hence the hare in the firm's logo] is the managing director of Caterers friend.
